The Acqua Alta Oceanographic Platform of the CNR
The Institute of Marine Sciences of the National Research Council manages a multi-parametric observing system that includes about 15 fixed stations that ensure the monitoring of the lagoon, coastal and deep sea environments, acquiring measurements of numerous essential observational variables, with high temporal resolution. .
The Acqua Alta Oceanographic Platform, installed in March 1970 in response to the disastrous high water that hit Venice on November 4, 1966, is one of the main research infrastructures managed by the National Research Council.
Installed about 8 miles off the coast of Venice, in a stretch of sea with a depth of about 16 m (GPS 45 ° 19 'N, 012 ° 30' E), it consists of a laboratory and accommodation module, as well as a sophisticated distribution systems. management and transfer of data in real time from numerous measuring stations and sensors installed.
