On the Tyrrhenian coast, between Tirrenia and Livorno, rises Calambrone, whose area in medieval times was identifiable with Porto Pisano, the great seaport of the Republic of Pisa.
The foundation of a real urban nucleus in Calambrone dates back to the Thirties, when numerous summer colonies in Art Nouveau and Modernist style were built that still characterize the urban structure and the landscape together with the characteristic sandy dunes of its coastline.
Today Calambrone is at the center of a very important redevelopment work with the renovation of old buildings transformed into residential and tourist complexes and hotels of great value and is returning to be a summer and seaside tourism destination.
